Vasco Nunez De Balboa

Vasco Nunez de Balboa was the first European to see the Pacific Ocean. In 1519 he would lay the groundwork for the founding of Panama City. He backed out of an agreement with Francisco Pizarro that would have made him a major player in the conquest of the Inca Empire. His reputation as a cruel and cunning man has survived to this day.
