Hyperkalemic Periodic Paralysis
I love that name. I could see it coming up on the advanced exam too, for sure. But I think a lot of the disorders, they like to test your knowledge of this stuff. So let's talk about hyperkalemic periodic paralysis. It causes prolonged muscle membrane depolarization and flaccid paralysis. The attacks can be provoked by potassium loading, rest after exercise and cold.
