CHAPTER

The Aztec War Was a Kind of Sacrifice

For the Aztecs warfare was a means not only of gaining personal glory social status and ultimately tribute and expanding territorial control but even more a kind of sacrificial activity in fact warfare involved two kinds of sacrifice. The need for such sacrifice was so great that when real warfare was not possible or advisable theAztecs engaged in what was called another really weird word i guess or war of flowers. It's often commented that with the arrival of the Spaniards they would try to fight in order to kill everyone whereas the Aztec way of doing things was that they would actually want to wound or main people so that they can keep them alive and then take them away as sacrifice.
