By 2004, Theranos raised $6.9 million in capital and the company was valued at $30 million. In 2007, after raising another $43 million, that evaluation skyrocketed to $197 million. Just three years later, in 2010, Theranos hit a monumental valuation of over $1 billion. Holmes' investors were well known and more than happy to throw their millions at her with this incredible new technology. The wealthy heirs of Amway, Walmart, Cox Communications, and powerful tech and media moguls,. such as Larry Ellison and Rupert Murdoch, all part of the $945 million that Holmes raised over that time period. For a while, their investment really seemed to pay off
