In opto genetics, we don't want to turn all the cells on. We just want to turn on the ones we're interested at that particular moment. So you've got to use genetic targeting strategies to get the microbinopson just into the cells that you want. And then finally, the whole light delivery. How do you get the light into the right spot of the brain, targeted to the right s? At the time, lds weren't strong enough to generate the right power levels. This timing aspect of optogenetics continues to be unique and enormously important.
