The Differences Between Synchronous and Reactive Microservices
The value of a service mesh is less clear when you're doing synchronous reactive microservices, such as one might do with Kafka. There's fewer hops, there are fewer places for things to pile up and suddenly your variance blows out. The ratio of stuff that happens inside any given process to the amount of connective tissue,. if you like, is very different now. And what we know from physics in elementary scaling of, of, of living things is that those don't scale at the same rate.
