The Problem With Victimhood
The problem in a victimhood narrative is not that there aren't victims, of course there are clear cut people who are simply victims of the actions of others. The person who has been treated like an animal must by necessity not accept that the thing they've been treated as is what they are. You can only move forward against the wrong by transcending the wrong by saying I'm not simply going to be defined by this and rise up above it.
