The Importance of Competition in Evolution

With DNA, you have hair till hair tability lasting for millions of generations. With corporations, well, corporations are certainly selected in the sense that incompetent corporations go bust. But if an accident of stellar dynamics makes one star burn longer than another star, that doesn't make it more likely that future stars will also burn longer. So there's not really any evolution going on here.
