The Defection of Travis King to North Korea
James Dresnock was an American soldier who defected to North Korea in 1962. He became a prominent figure in the regime's propaganda efforts. Charles Robert Jenkins, a U.S Army surgeon stationed in South Korea at the time, also defected this year. In January 1965, while on patrol duty near the Korean Demilitarized Zone, Jenkins decided to defect to the North. We do not know yet why Travis King decided to cross the border to North Korea.
