The Exclusion of the Ammonites and Moabites
They had treated israel with hostility at the time of the exodus, seeking to curse and corrupt them. Consde in their names and the names of their sons. Itis quite likely that sambalat and tabiah were syncratists worshipping the lord as the god of israel. The strict monotheism of israel required a resistance to all such idolatrous polytheism. Removing people with a track record of seeking to cursing and corrupt israel was an important part of this.
