The Bodhicitta, the Third Factor of Independence
In this way one sees the faults of conditioned existence piercing and penetrating through the conditioned, to the unconditioned beyond. independence upon this factor also is seeing the faults of conditioning arises the bodhicitta. And thirdly, the third factorependence upon which that bodhcitta arises are observing the sufferings of sentient beings. And what a lot of sufferings there are. Sometimes you've got to open one's newspaper just to read about some of them,. People hung, people shot, people executed, people burned to death.
