The internet trolls of 4chan used the emails in a different way. The pizza gate theory went viral, and as it was shared, it continued to develop. A growing group of people believed that a Satanic cabal of Democrats were running a child sex trafficking ring. There's no way to know for sure how much all of this contributed to the end result of the 2016 election.
