The Army Never Takes Over in Pakistan Unless It Has the Public Support
Nawaz Sharif had been elected with a huge mandate. He was not deposed in a very general Busharraf as army chief. There was an apprehension that, you know, once there is a new takeover by the new army chief, he will be tried for treason. But at the same time, there is one very important thing which you should always keep in mind: The army never takes over in Pakistan unless it has the public support.
