Newly formed House Select Committee on China held its first hearing Tuesday night. Lawmakers heard testimony from national defense experts and human rights activists victimized by the communist regime there. Supporters of a crackdown say this problem has really been brewing since the 70s when American leaders first opened relations with China. The hope at the time was that America would benefit from a cheap labor pool and mass manufacturing while simultaneously exporting democratic values to China for their benefit.
