Nietzsche's Sophism and Thucydides' Morality
In Twilight of Idols in the passage we read at the beginning, Nietzsche ties together what sophism means to him and Platonism. He doesn't really believe in a prescriptive rule-based moral theory; oftentimes he doesn't seem to believe that there is a clear universal context transcendent answers to moral questions. And so what he sees in Thucydides is therefore a forerunner of his own work because he's also thinking in those same extra moral terms.
