What Is a Confidence Interval?
confidence intervals are one way we do this, and that's what they're all about. We compute a statistic called ta confidence interval, and it's basically an error region around that. If our depression confidence interval was five point two average with a range from one point two to nine point two, then it would be hard to argue that's different than a depression score with an average of six. The other way that scientists do this is through what are called inferential statistics. Some of you might have heard of the infamous p alue.
