The cost of food for restaurants and other vendors rose 5.8% between November 2021 and August 2022, according to a Wells Fargo report. But during that same time, the food at grocery stores rose nearly 10%. And items necessary for Thanksgiving dinner, like fruits and vegetables, eggs and flour, all rose nearly 15%. Why is there such a significant discrepancy? Because restaurants factor in overhead and labor costs into their menu prices.
