I lead a youth study, that's what we call it, most Wednesdays we meet with the youth of Emmaus and our practice is to discuss the sermons from the previous Sunday. So we were talking about the Gospel of Luke. One of the things I said to them was: How do you pay attention to context and themes in novels? And then finally, we got to the issue of the introduction and development of characters. It really seemed to resonate with them and it seems to be something like what you're saying here, Jim.
