Using a Spot Sample to Estimate Sodium Excretion
There is no evidence of a J shape where lower sodium intake was associated with higher risk. To really get an accurate sodium excretion that's reflective of the person's habitual diet or the diet that they're on at that time, you would need even multiple days. The American Heart Association recommends no more than 1500 milligrams for optimal cardiovascular health.
