Tree ring records tell us that if you look further back in time, you can find droughts that were truly massive. The last of those droughts was in the late 15 hundred, from 15 seventies through nineties. We know there's been a drought and has lasted about 20 years. But it's tough when we have weather station records that only go back for a century at best to put that in context.
