Cortes and Narvaez Fought in Tenochtetlan
Cortes and his men crept through dark at midnight. They despatched the guards outside narvaez's chamber, setting the temple on fire as they went. One of cortez's pikemen jabbed at narvaez and took out his right eye. His soldiers were mercenaries who had been promised gold if they followed him. And had no particular loyalty they surrendered.
