Confucius Institutes in China - What's Your Thoughts on That?
Universities in China do not have institutional autonomy. They are controlled by the chinese communist party. And if there is ever a day where they don't serve its interests for them, they'll cease operate ad they'll cease to be run by the people they run by. So this is not like engaging with other universities in open, free democracies. No confucious institute has registered under the foreign influence transparency scheme. Time will tell whether they have fully complied with those obligations.
