Avalanche: A Proof of State Protocol
Avalanche's consensus protocol is sort of the main innovation I would say and that's what most people rave about in the community there. The idea with Avalanche was what if everyone didn't have to communicate but you could still use proof of state. There were two interesting properties one was that there was no bottleneck at any point in the protocol so like you didn't one node didn't need to communicate with everybody ever. Not a single party rarely had to talk to the entire network too.
