But how Helen Childress has like kind of been left out of the narrative even like it just feels like a very Hollywood story where studios were like okay gen X like they're now viable consumers by the early 90s. Laney makes $400 a week that she's pulling from her own experiences and her own friends. By 2019 she wasn't even invited to the 25 year reunion of this movie like it got swallowed full by Hollywood. I can't make a character judgment on Ben Stiller based on this but it seems like this is more remembered as like Ben Stiller's first directed movie and not like Helen Childress
