What Does Career Success Look Like for Volunteer Engagement Professionals?
I think first and foremost, as volunteer engagement professionals, we wear many hats. And because of that, I think it's oftentimes it requires us to seek development from those who are actually subject matter experts in all of those different hats. Very rarely do you make it beyond director to a VP of volunteer engagement. You're not necessarily a gatekeeper. So I think sometimes we have to leave the profession or think about developing our career trajectory into another position where we have greater influence. Sometimes this requires that we actually leave our field so that we can better support those in our field if that makes sense.
