Compound Return - The Third Leg of the Stool

In 1972, Thomas Phelps wrote a book called A Hundred to One in the Market. His message was that between 1935 and 1971, you could have bought and made a hundred times your investment by 1972. He didn't ever explicitly talk about compound return, but clearly what his message was. And so we talked earlier about MasterCard and Visa and the enormous returns. There's no way that they can reinvest that cash to earn those kinds of returns or anything else. But it's a less efficient way for us to compound our capital than if they were able to reinvest it all and get those same kind of rates of return.
