The parallel history saw an incredible evolution in imaging technology, which I think captivated some of our fantasy as a field. The problem is that the technology that was so wrapped up in that fantasy measured cortical processing. It's only recent recently, and even still, we're not able to measure deep brain process, but we know that it's actually primary. Yeah, we left the middle part of the brain unobserved. We didn't really care about it.
