Bringing in Affected Communities as Central Members of the Design Team
Having trained social science staff is really important. But I think equally and probably more important is hiring, bringing in affected communities in a way that literally values their input. No matter how much social science training you have, you can't live somebody else's life. And so, valuing and listening to and really centralizing perspectives of the people at the center is a really critical part of the puzzle.
