Introduction
The book owes an important debt to Mercatus, thanks to the workshop that Pete mentioned. My association with institutions in and around George Mason now exceeds half my lifetime. I had a thought for a long time that a great deal of polycentric law literature proceeded as if the normal case of choice of law was something like choosing Delaware contract law. The fact that we're able to order our lives without all of the normative guidance that shapes social coordination is itself a feature of a free life.
