Human society has been more or less getting better for at least the last ten or 11 thousand years. Do you think we have another 11 thousand good years ahead of us? At the rate that things are going now, we've got about another 30 years left to get on to a sustainable course - or we've lost our chance. And well have depleted irreversibly essential resources, forests, fisheries, top soil and water. I'm amazed that you hold these views and feel optimistic. There's a lot of certainty.
