How to Use a Wispiple for Pediatric Anesthesia

The typical teaching is that you use a straight blade for an infant epiglottis. The nice thing about that blade of course is that it's a low profile and so it doesn't occupy a lot of space in the mouth. But since the tongue is a little bit larger relative to the size of the airway, you often end up with that tongue really wrapping around the blade which makes it hard for you to pass your endotracheal tube down the right side of the mouth.
