The Spiritual Experience of Alcoholics Anonymous
In 1939 there were 100 alcoholics who wrote this book, which was the biggest 12 step job ever undertaken. And in 1939, 5,000 copies of the Big Book were published and about 8,000 recoveries took place. The message to the alcoholic must be grounded in experience. It needs to have depth. So it pointed out to me that in 1934 there was one recovering alcoholic, Mr. Build W, he had a spiritual experience.
