The Importance of Conference in Politics
I'm periodically in favor of way more top down approach. I think we've chosen that person to be leader, but then just get on with it. It's right that we do have a system that recognizes the different constituent parts of the party. But all our socialist societies and CLPs also have just such a wealth of information and talent in them. So there has to be a balance. And conference is, you have to get a balance between those really important policy debates and speaking to the country. Because if we want to be in government delivering for the most vulnerable people in our communities, we actually have to speak to theCountry.
