The Evolutionary Synthesis of Alleles

Defenders of the modern synthesis would say there's still allelic variation that's underlying all of this. But somebody interested in the extended evolutionary synthesis would say well, there's something different going on here. It's this sort of pre-existing plasticity is creating these coordinated sets of complex traits which are then refined by natural selection.
