How to Palpate the Crycothyroid Membrane
Laryngeal handshake is a formalized way of palpating the laryngeal structure. The idea is to promote confidence in what you're feeling through reference to the sort of three-dimensional structures that you've got rather than just kind of poking around randomly with one finger and sort of hoping that you're in the right spot. And it also prevents this misidentification of the thyroid-highoid space as the Chrychothyroid membrane because that is one of the first structures that you identify as you slide down thelaryngeal structures.
