It's happened six times in the history of test cricket. The last couple were in the 70s. There were a couple in the 19th century, there was one in the 1950s and one in the 1930s. Those are the only times that anyone's been in that situation. But part of the reason that it is so rare is that a five match series is likely to be affected by the weather at some point.
