Fiction has taken the place of real history for people. People in power don't stop and think, okay, who should I be talking to? It's not just your own perspective, which is being curtailed or curated. There are certain narratives which feed this underlying misunderstanding of who these others are. We ingest stories all day long. And so this has a huge effect on how our politics, on how we see others.
