Macrophages and Tissue Repair

We used to think that all macrophages just came from the bone marrow and floated through. That's not true right so now the current understanding is that monoside a macrophage comes to a bone marrow only during inflammation. This tissue-resistant macrophage has a very important role in the maintenance of tissue integrity as well as their immune functional role. There is still much to discover so this may be an exciting time for us but we're looking forward to finding out more about how they work.
