The Upwinger's Fear of Stagnation
In Silicon Valley, there is this kind of narrative that flows about how science technology have been stagnating since the 1970s. It's because of a lack of a risk taking culture, you know, and so what ends up happening is that things that already are known to work just keep on working. So from the upwinger perspective, it would be better to move forward knowing that we're going to screw up periodically than it would be to just stay in the dark ages.
