The Earth Is Gaining Mass Every Year
The earth weighs in inverted commas, a six followed by 24 zeros kilograms. We also therefore know based on first measurements and so on what the earth is doing in terms of mass every year. Every year a couple of aircraft carriers worth of material rains in from space and adds to the earth's mass. But there is another thing here which is that the earth is also warming up. Because of global warming and the rise in global temperature because energy was MC squared, mass times the speed of light squared. So although the earth is losing stuff into outer space in the form of gas, it is nevertheless gaining mass because it is getting warmer. Hi Dr Smith, I enjoy my natural documentaries.
