When i was running software security way back in the 2000s i worked in the company but regulated financial services industry it was pretty easy to go manage the regulators. Look for rather than ripping a whole thing out and then going through that whole cycle again find something that can provide the specific deficiency right bridge that gap of that deficiency and use the two in parallel.
