The Risk of Getting Pregnant With Birth Control Pills

As birth control pills have lowered their dose of estrogen the truth is that getting pregnant is a bigger risk than the risk associated with birth control pill use. So it's part of patient education. Do I give these patients birth control pills? Absolutely but I give them something that's very low dose and I do that because the risk of pregnancy is much higher than any theoretical risk of a low dose pill. However having said that I really do try to guide them towards a progesterone only method as I just think larks work better in general.
