The Temple Is a Sign of God's Coming to Earth
Heaven and earth were designed to work together. God made a combined world of two different sorts of what we can loosely call place or space, God's space and our space. A temple is in the ancient world a place where heaven and earth come together. The New Jerusalem comes to earth so that the dwelling of God is with humans.
