Julia Gailiff: Lincoln's cabinet members weren't brilliant people he thought he could learn from in spite of their disagreement. They were just political rivals we needed to have in the cabinet for strategic reasons and three of them didn't last through his tenure. And so it makes sense in retrospect that, you know, they didn't have a bunch of productive disagreements that ended up changing people's minds. Julia: People who you feel some camaraderie with and also you disagree with are the areas in which I think you can learn most.
