Manipulation is what happens if you know more than your customer does, and you trick them into buying something that they regret later. If a doctor persuades somebody to stop smoking, that's not easy at first. A waiter doing a really good job of talking about to day's specials in a way that gets you to buy a dinner that you ordinarily wouldn't have ordered,. That's a good thing.
