I don't think anybody should say anything is the bottom of the well at this time. I can reasonably say, when I look into the well, I can't see past quantum mechanics. So do you understand what it means to be an observer? I understand it at a technical level. An observer is a system with enough degrees of freedom that it can record information and which can become entangled with the thing that it's measuring. Entanglement is the key.
