The Randomness of Mass Shootings
The media gives mass shootings an incredible amount of attention relative to the far more common one off gun. The randomization of it is really what is driving a lot of the anxiety even if it's at a much lower risk than something like a car accident. It's a class and an affluence thing affluent white people who read the New York Times or Washington Post probably don't feel like they're not at risk for these kinds of crimes.
