The History of Money
It seems like it would be a very difficult thing to introduce if there were no past experience with it whatsoever. I guess my view would be that there needed to be some observation of money functioning spontaneously before someone could campaign to get people to accept any particular currency. Then the issue of whether one way of deriving money is better than the other takes us into all of the philosophical issues in a very pointed way.
