The Rise of Christianity in the Roman Empire
The rise of christianity is clear to see in the roman empire. Some laws come early, such as a ban on sacrifice and no stones standing next to each other. But gradually you get more laws saying that it's going to be illegal to do a sacrifice. The usebius describes how constantine robs ancient temples so he can funnel their wealth into imperial coffers. And partly it's because it's emotionally a huge blow for those who supported the old gods.
