The Importance of Microbiology
Glenn: microbiology is not done with pet redishes anymore. The gut microbiome doesn't like oxygen so if you store it on a bench or whatever you're going to kill half the bugs that are in there they're anaerobic, he says. Glenn: I've had lots of fecal specimens sent to me in chiffy bugs and things and just randomly let's buy the time they get there one sat there for a whole weekend on my desk and i don't care right. It's all done with molecular techniques which are culture independent high fidelity high throughput but you need to do it over time according to Glenn.
